Our approach

Assistive devices provided with system and with heart

Orthoses, wheelchairs, walking aids, communication aids, seating systems — providing assistive devices for children with neurological and motor conditions is complex. Without the right device, much of the progress made in therapy never reaches everyday life. At HOME4MOTION Kids, Dr Martin Švehlík coordinates the whole process together with our therapy team. We know the needs, we know the options, and we know the way through the maze of health insurance claims.
The best assistive device is the one your child actually uses — because it fits perfectly and genuinely helps.

Assistive devices such as orthoses or insoles can make everyday life considerably easier — when they are well fitted. Together with therapists and medical specialists we choose the right provision. Häufige Fragen

Was Sie wissen möchten

How does the provision of assistive devices work at HOME4MOTION Kids?▾
First: assessment by Dr Švehlík and the therapy team — which device makes sense? Second: medical referral and a report giving the reasons. Third: application to the health insurer, with our support. Fourth: fitting and trying it out. Fifth: review and regular adjustment as your child grows.
Which orthoses are there for children with cerebral palsy, and what do they do?▾
Ankle-foot orthoses (AFO): correct an equinus foot position and improve the gait pattern. Knee orthoses: for hyperextension or internal rotation. Trunk orthoses: for scoliosis or poor trunk control. Which orthosis is right depends on the gait analysis — a well-chosen device makes a substantial difference to the goals of therapy.
When does a wheelchair make sense for our child?▾
A wheelchair makes sense when walking is too tiring or too unsafe for everyday distances — not as giving up walking, but as extending mobility. Many children use a wheelchair for longer distances and walk shorter ones. We advise you individually on all the mobility options.
How often do assistive devices need adjusting as children grow?▾
It depends on the device: orthoses every six to twelve months, depending on how quickly the child is growing; a wheelchair every three to five years, or when needs change. During a growth spurt it can be sooner. We handle the regular reviews and apply for replacements in good time.
