Functional training for children — stronger for everyday life

Functional occupational therapy training builds exactly the abilities your child needs — for school, for free time and for an independent life.

Playful functional training to build movement and coordination
Our approach

Occupational therapy that genuinely works

Functional training means we do not practise isolated movements — we train real everyday actions. Combing hair, doing up buttons, packing a school bag: everything that makes your child's day easier. The basis is a careful occupational therapy assessment: what can your child already do well? Where are the difficulties? Which goals matter? From this we develop a tailored therapy plan.
Functional training is therapy you can see in life, not only in the therapy room.

Our therapists

Specialised. Experienced. Here for you.

In functional training we practise exactly the movements your child needs in everyday life. That might be grasping, writing, standing up or handling objects. Everything is set up to be realistic, meaningful and suited to children. We work in different settings — in therapy, at home or at school. The aim is for movements to become secure and to work automatically in daily life.

Achieving more, together.

Häufige Fragen

Was Sie wissen möchten

What exactly does functional training in occupational therapy work on?▾
Functional training links motor skills to actions that matter in daily life: fine motor skills in doing up buttons, strength and coordination in eating, planning and sequencing in packing a school bag. It always trains in a real context, which supports transfer and lasting progress.
Is functional training different from everyday skills training?▾
Both are close to daily life; the difference lies in the focus. Functional training emphasises the underlying motor and sensory abilities — grasp patterns, coordination, strength — through everyday actions. ADL training is aimed more directly at specific routines. The two often complement each other well.
What do goals in functional training look like?▾
Goals are always set together with the child and the parents — concrete and measurable. For example: "In six weeks Max can open his rucksack himself", "In eight weeks Emma can eat with a knife and fork". Concrete goals like these make progress visible.
Can I take part in functional training as a parent?▾
Yes — and we positively encourage it. Parents who know the methods can support the progress far more effectively. We suggest being present at least every third session. We show you how to help without taking over.
