Cognitive training for children — thinking, planning, concentrating

When concentration, memory or planning are hard for your child, it has a strong effect on school and on daily life. Our occupational therapists build cognitive skills playfully and close to everyday life.

Our approach

Cognitive training that makes school and everyday life easier

Children with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury or other neurological conditions often have difficulty with concentration, working memory, planning and processing speed. Targeted concentration training can help improve attention and stamina both at home and at school. Our occupational therapists train these abilities specifically — embedded in games, everyday tasks and activities relevant to school. Building attention after neurological conditions is central here, so that taking part in daily life is supported lastingly. Always play-based, always motivating.
A child who can concentrate can learn. That is the basis for everything else.

What we build cognitively

Targeted cognitive support — from attention through to planning.

🎯

Attention & concentration

Training focused, sustained work — with structured tasks that build up gradually. Our concentration training helps children manage their attention better at school and at home.

🧩

Working memory

Holding, processing and retrieving information — the basis for arithmetic, reading and learning at school.

📋

Planning & executive function

Planning tasks, carrying them out and adjusting them — a step-by-step approach for more independence.

⏱️

Processing speed

Processing information more quickly — important for the school day and for communication.

👨🏻‍🏫

School readiness & learning strategies

Developing learning strategies, preparing specifically for school, contact with the school on request. Building attention can be tied directly to what school actually requires.

📅

Intensive therapy, 1–3 weeks

Häufige Fragen

Was Sie wissen möchten

From what age does cognitive training in occupational therapy make sense?▾
Cognitive support begins playfully from the age of two to three, with cause-and-effect games, simple sorting tasks and memory games. From pre-school age, around four or five, we can work more specifically on concentration, planning and memory.
Can occupational therapy help with learning difficulties at school?▾
Yes — occupational therapy improves the underlying cognitive functions that make learning possible: attention, working memory, planning and sequencing, and processing speed. Many children show clear improvement at school and in daily life after targeted cognitive training.
How does cognitive training in occupational therapy actually work?▾
Every session begins with a warm-up. Then come three or four targeted cognitive activities — memory games, sorting tasks, computer-based training or board games that require planning. At the end there is a task to practise at home. Everything is matched to age and ability.
How do I build cognitive training into everyday life?▾
Counting while cooking, remembering what is needed while shopping, playing board games, doing puzzles, retelling stories. After every session we give you two or three concrete ideas for daily life, matched to your child and their current level.
