Splints for children — individually fitted, comfortable to wear

The right splint can make a considerable difference — in grasping, writing, sleeping or in therapy. We advise, fit and support the whole process of provision.

Our approach

Splints made with precision and with children in mind

Wrist splints, finger splints, night positioning splints — the right splint supports function, prevents contractures and supports the goals of therapy. With children it is important that splints fit well, are comfortable and are adjusted regularly. Our occupational therapists make thermoplastic splints individually, on the basis of an occupational therapy assessment and in consultation with physiotherapy and Neuro-orthopaedics.
The best splint is the one the child actually wears — which is why we fit it together.

Häufige Fragen

Was Sie wissen möchten

How often does our child’s splint need adjusting?▾
Children grow quickly, so splints should be checked for fit and function every three to six months. During a growth spurt it may be needed more often. Review appointments are included with us — we arrange regular check-ups.
How long does our child have to wear the splint?▾
That depends on the indication: night splints are worn daily for six to eight hours, functional splints during the day in particular situations. We draw up an individual wearing schedule and explain the reasoning to you and to your child.
What should we do if our child does not want to wear the splint?▾
That is common and normal. We involve the child in choosing colours and designs, explain the purpose in a way they can understand, and suggest a step-by-step plan for getting used to it. A comfortable fit is the single most important condition for wearing it reliably.
Does health insurance cover the cost of a hand splint?▾
Thermoplastic hand splints can be covered in whole or in part by your health insurer on application, with a medical referral. We support you through the claim: assessment reports, forms, and guidance through the whole process.
