Balance and fall prevention for children — standing safely, moving safely

When balance wavers, a child’s trust in their own body wavers with it. We help your child stand and walk safely and take part in the school day.

Playful balance training for children, building confidence and stability
Our approach

Balance training that works in your child’s everyday life

Children with cerebral palsy, muscle weakness, genetic conditions or following neurological conditions often have balance difficulties and an increased risk of falling. That has a strong effect on taking part at school, on playing and on confidence. Not infrequently a fear of falling develops from this, which can restrict independent movement further. Our physiotherapists train proprioceptive input, vestibular processing and motor reactions in a targeted way — embedded in games made for children and in real everyday situations. Individually adapted balance training in cerebral palsy helps children gain more confidence and trust in their own movement.
When your child can run without fear, that is more than a therapy success — that is childhood.

What we can do for your child

Individually adapted balance work — from the therapy mat to the school playground.

⚖️

Static balance

Standing safely on different surfaces — an important basis for all other everyday activities and a central element in treating balance disorders in children.

🏃

Dynamic balance

Balance in movement: walking, turning, obstacles — decisive for walking safely in everyday life.

⚡

Reaction training & fall prevention

Training fast protective reactions — so that a stumble does not become a fall. At the same time an existing fear of falling can be reduced step by step.

🕹️

Sensory integration

Training the vestibular, proprioceptive and visual senses — the three pillars of balance.

🏫

School day & climbing stairs

School corridors, stairs, uneven ground — managing the way to school safely and with confidence.

📆

Intensive therapy, 1–3 weeks

Daily balance training in concentrated form — for noticeable progress in balance, mobility and independence.

Training with the Balo balance trainer to build core stability
Steh- und Balancetrainer

Balo – Balance-Trainer

The yielding platform forces constant balancing. That is exactly what trains the reflexes that catch a fall — the basis of any fall prevention. The difficulty grows with your child’s confidence.

Our therapists

Specialised. Experienced. Here for you.

Balance is the basis for moving safely in everyday life, so we train it with plenty of variety and enjoyment. Your child practises on balance boards, in an obstacle course or on a trampoline — always playfully and without pressure. We look closely at which senses need support and build the interplay between body and perception. That creates confidence in standing, walking, running and playing. The aim is for your child to move freely and steadily through their world.

Häufige Fragen

Was Sie wissen möchten

How do I recognise whether our child has a balance problem?▾
Typical signs: stumbling or falling often, feeling unsteady on uneven ground, difficulty with stairs, avoiding playgrounds or sport. If your child constantly holds on to hands or walls, or walks very slowly, a balance problem may be behind it.
Which methods are used in balance training?▾
We use proprioceptive training, vestibular training, visual balance training and reactive balance training. The equipment includes soft mats, balance boards, work on a trampoline and specialised devices. All of it designed for children and based on play.
Can balance really be trained, or is it something you are born with?▾
Balance can largely be trained. The balance system has three parts — vestibular, proprioceptive and visual — and all three can be improved. In children with neurological conditions neuroplasticity is particularly pronounced: the brain actively learns new strategies for balance.
How long does balance therapy take before results are visible?▾
First visible improvements often show after six to ten sessions, particularly in younger children. Lasting change takes three to six months, depending on the severity. Regularity is what matters: therapy plus daily exercises at home give the best results.
