Frequently asked questions

What you want to know about how therapy works

Do we need a referral for children’s therapy?▾
Not necessarily to begin therapy — but for reimbursement by your health insurer a medical referral is usually required. Your paediatrician or paediatric neurologist can issue one. We go through everything with you in the initial consultation.
How long does our child’s first appointment take?▾
The first appointment takes around 90 minutes. About 30 to 40 minutes of that go on a playful assessment and a conversation with you as parents; the first therapy session follows.
How often a week should our child have therapy?▾
That depends on age, diagnosis and therapy goals. As a rule we recommend one to two sessions a week. In intensive therapy for children, several hours a day over one to two weeks is possible.
How much does health insurance reimburse?▾
The amount reimbursed depends on your health insurer and the tariff you have. Some insurers also reimburse paediatric physiotherapy and occupational therapy provided privately. We will help you with the documents needed for the claim.
